A day to go until SA Fashion Week AUTUMN/Winter 2015 Collections, SA fashionstas and designers alike are putting the final touches to collections that are set to inspire the world.
Over a number of days, 49 designers will come together from all over the country to show their Collections to the media, fashion buyers and South Africa’s celebrities. 23 of these designers will be making their SAFW debut, which will include young designers from the SAFW Renault New Talent Search and Menswear Competition.
This year, media is being given an opportunity to experience the designers Collections first-hand before, during and after the A/W’15 shows they are attending through the introduction of the Buyer’s Lounge. Through the Buyer’s Lounge, boutique-owners and department buyers can preview and order from the designer’s collections, with the sole aim of driving the Business of Fashion – creating marketing and retail channels for emerging and established designers to secure themselves as sustainable brands in the Fashion Industry.
Opening the festivities will be the SAFW Renault New Talent Search in Association with Sunday Times Fashion Weekly, on Wednesday 15 October. The SAFW Renault New Talent Search is a platform that was designed as a launch pad for aspiring designers and is currently South Africa’s most-recognized talent identification programme in the South African fashion industry. Designers showcasing include designers Agut, Angelo Sebastian, Jenevieve Lyons, Oh! Deer, Revelation Fashion and Wake.
Another first this year, is the introduction of the programme dedicated solely to South African Menswear – a testament to SAFW’s confidence in the good work that they have done in catapulting menswear designers in the country into successful businesses. Representing men this year is Naked Ape by Shaldon Kopman, Charthu by Mike Narainsamy, Ephymol, House of Olé, Roman Handt and Palse.
