The Lion King (1994)
This game-changing animation is regarded as one of the best Disney movies of all time. In the movie, young Simba’s route to the throne of pride Rock is blocked by his uncle Scar who plans to usurp his brother Mufasa. Scar orchestrates Mufasa’s death, making Simba believe that he is to blame for his father’s death. A staple of kids’ movies and starring the voice talents of the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, James Earl Jones, Rowan Atkinson and Jeremy Irons, this is one timeless classic.
The Karate Kid (1984)
The term “wax on, wax off” has achieved cult status over the years, thanks to this movie. Young Daniel finds himself the target of a group of bullies. Repairman and martial arts guru Mr Miyagi helps him by training him in martial arts. He eventually competes and defends himself against his bullies.
Jumanji (1995)
While exploring an old mansion, youngsters Peter and Judy Shepherd find a curious, jungle-themed game called “Jumanji” in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish, who’s been stuck in the game’s inner world for decades. Part of the adventure means having to brave giant bugs, mischievous monkeys and a rhino stampede.
Annie (1982)
