Many people dream of being able to afford to drive a fast, expensive car in their lifetime. Each generation has its most popular super cars and it seems that millennials have Bugatti to thank for the latest “dream car”.
With a price tag of a cool R37 million ($2.6 million) the Bugatti Chiron can rightfully claim the top spot as the most expensive car in South Africa.
Set to replace the Veyron, the Chiron has a top speed of 463km/h.
After making its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Chiron was claimed to be “the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive super sports car” by Bugatti.
With a design that is widely regarded to be an evolution of the Veyron’s design, the Chiron’s cabin design has found the perfect balance between sportiness and luxury. The cabin was described as a “masterpiece” by TopSpeed.com.
Bugatti, a historic brand revived by Volkswagen has revealed that production of the Chiron has been limited to 500 only.
What makes this the most expensive car in South Africa?
The two-seater, four-wheel drive car has 16 cylinders and is ideal for those with plenty of cash to splash.
Described as the “fastest street-legal production car” the Chiron proves this by getting from 0-100km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.
With the R41 million price tag, you might be thinking this car could be a hard sell. What might surprise you however is that there have already been 170 orders received.
The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is designed to withstand 1600Nm of torque, while the high performance brakes rival those fitted to Formula 1 cars.
The Chiron also features a Titanium exhaust system. It’s also a four-wheel drive car with a new “easy to drift” feature.
