In this digital era of instant news anywhere, anytime online, along with the fast paced lives we live, no one, especially, on online platforms wants to read articles that resemble chapters of a book. The method is to keep it short and sweet.
And yes I am sure you’ve heard that cliché before about keeping your writing short and sweet, but it’s a tried and tested method that rings true.
People don’t access the internet to read an essay of an article instead they’re there to get their information quicker than the time it would take to look over your Sunday paper when you’re lounging in your kitchen enjoying your cup of coffee. This points to the fact that there is a time and place for everything.
When on the internet you literally have access to vast amounts of information and mostly what people do is skim through the articles they’re reading and as overwhelming as it is to have so much information at your fingertips at a click of a link. It’s far more overwhelming to deal with an article that has vast amounts of text, winding on and on and doesn’t really get to the point.
I mean honestly if Iwanted to read a book I would rather settle for the old school, traditional way of reading and get an actual book to read or access an e-book, which maybe; the only time it’s acceptable to read vast amounts of text online.
You are online to receive hard hitting facts and opinions fast and now and the chances are you’ll have more than one tab opened up at a time even on the same topic but through different sources while you try figure out who covered the topic better than the other and whose topic is worth the read.
