South African multinational brewing and Beverage Company popularly known as SAB Miller is running a packaging learnership programme which is designed to equip applicants with an opportunity to enroll for a National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging, NQF 3.
The learnership is structured in such a way that it combines off-the-job learning and on-the-job learning in an integrated programme. The programme is a one year fixed term contract courtesy of Newlands Brewery which allows trainee students to undergo both on-the-job and off-the-job learning finishing in a national qualification.
To be part of this SAB Miller Packaging Learnership Programme, an applicant should have the following requirements:

Matric with mathematics

Computer literate

Self-directed and motivated

Problem solving skills

Attention to detail

Analytical ability

Be resourceful

Ability to work effectively in shift based teams

Ability to form effective relationships with coaches and mentor
While going through the off-the-job component, a trainee student will cover the more theoretical aspects of the learning with work based learning proving the opportunity for application of the theory and the further practical learning experiences required.
Some of the characteristics of this learnership programme are as follows:

Results in a national qualification registered on the National Qualification Framework (NQF)

The qualification is endorsed by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and quality assured by the FoodBev SETA

The qualification is written to reflect value adding skills required in the workplace and contains the outcomes and assessment criteria

Competence against the outcomes and assement criteria is demonstrated and assessed in the workplace using a variety of assessment methods
The closing date for this programme is 5 February 2015 and trainee students are expected to commence learning on the 1st of April 2015.
