The Crooked Cottage
Clarens, a town in Eastern Free State province of South Africa houses one of the state of the arts cottages known as The Crooked Cottage – a beautiful self-catering lodge located in the peaceful village of Clarens.
The cottage boasts of remarkable views and a significant climate which entirely makes Clarens a pleasant place where families can chose as the right destination for a holiday and weekend getaway.
The lodge is five-minute walking distance from the village. People or families who wish to spend their time away from their homes and enjoy the comfort of their big bedrooms, a full ensuite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a living area with a fireplace leading onto a large deck with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
Authorities at this cottage do not grant in-house services but worth noting is that arrangements can be made in form of request. The cottage has entertainment in form of local TV channels which are available. Additional channels can be availed to clients upon request and people can bring their decoders to the cottage.
Between the high sandstone Rooiberge and the Maluti Mountains, the attractive tiny town of Clarens is fittingly defined as The Jewel of the Free State. Clarens is positioned in the hills of the Maluti Mountains in very close closeness to the Golden Gate National Park and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho.
All year round, especially in autumn when the leaves turn gold, the scenery in Clarens is a magnet for artists and photographers. Clarens boasts excellent restaurants which are situated around the Village Square. Other activities include fly-fishing with some of the best fly-fishing opportunities, hiking and for the more adventurous, abseiling and white-water rafting.
