British pop rock band The Vamps will be performing on their first South African Tour in March 2017. With 4.4 million Facebook Likes and 3 million followers on Twitter, the band has become one of the UK’s biggest music exports.
The band, made up of Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans, first gained fame in 2012 with cover songs uploaded to YouTube.
Their debut album “Meet the Vamps” was released on 14 April 2014 and their second studio album “Wake Up” was released on 27 November 2015.
Johannesburg fans can look forward to a show at the TicketPro Dome on March 20, 2017.
The band, which has been compared to One Direction, was signed to Mercury Records in 2012.
The group has also collaborated with Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes and has also supported Selena Gomez on tour.
Speaking to IbTimes in the UK, The Vamps insist that “honestly, we haven’t changed”.
“Obviously it has changed for us drastically but we kind of keep best friends and stuff. We are just enjoying it. Doing a hobby and living life to the full.”
The band spent some time working in New York on their 2014 debut release. This debut album spawned five top hits, including Can We Dance, Wild Heart and Somebody To You.
Speaking on their success using social media, the band says:
“Social media has a he part to play, it’s how we all found each other and it’s how we all found each other and it’s how we’ve gained our fan base, it’s an incredible platform now especially as it opens you up internationally from day one. Also I think it’s a great tool for meeting new musicians, rather than looking through ad’s in NME you can go onto YouTube and see people there and then.”
