Constructed from aluminium, magnesium and light strength steel, the BMW 5 Series is set to launch in February. The car looks similar to its predecessor; but with subtle improvements.
With 6 cylinder engines, it’s a midsize luxury car that will initially be available as a sedan.
It comes with XDrive four-wheel drive as standard and has an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The seventh generation 5 Series comes in three drive modes: Sport, Comfort and EcoPro.

Most reviews have pointed out that the car is quite similar to the 7 series, save for minor changes. The last generation 5 Beemer was regarded a phenomenal success so the stakes are high.
CNET says “BMW has made everything ‘better’ than it was before. There’s more tech, a smoother drive, a beefier look and plenty more besides”. They also called the specs “more evolutionary than revolutionary”.
The integral active steering returns as an option, while the car comes with more interior space and more practical boot space.
It also comes with adaptive cruise control with steering assist. This, along with balanced weight-distribution makes fast cornering easier. Rear-wheel steering is ideal for increased high-speed stability.
The infotainment screen features gesture controls allowing occupants to control features with the flick of the finger. It also has a 10.25 inch touchscreen along with on-board Wi-Fi. Certain features can now also be controlled via steering wheel buttons, voice commands, hand gestures and the iDrive knob (with its own touchpad on top). Safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and blindspot warning. All models also come with LED headlights as standard. Another impressive feature is how quiet the car is. Reviews have lauded the German manufacturers for this improvement.
