Come out and see both emerging and established dancers express their creativity with the movement of their bodies through dance.
At the Baxter Theatre Dance Festival, a premier event celebrating a decade of dance this year. It will be a 10-day jam packed schedule of each dance company and choreographer, having the opportunity to present their work through a presentation of a wide variety of dance styles and genres, which include Contemporary, Classical, Modern, African and Spanish.
With three programmes to choose from, the main consisting of invited and commissioned works as well as works by professional and established choreographers and companies. The OO-Main programme on 10 October will showcase work by up and coming choreographers including student work. While the Fringe programme on 17 October will include works by youth groups, dance schools, school groups, traditional dance group and others.
The running time for each dance work is limited to 10 minutes for the Main programme, 5 minutes for the Off-Main Programme and 3 minutes (Fringe) for solos, duets or trios and four quarters or bigger ensembles, it is 20 minutes (Main), 10 (oof-Main) and 7 minutes (Fringe).
