As one of the most innovative banks in South Africa, First National Bank (FNB) continues to introduce highly efficient banking systems. The bank strives to make banking easier and simpler for clients.
The latest development to be announced by the bank is FNB Pay.
The bank has introduced credit and debit cards with “pay on tap” facility. These cards are enabled to securely tap at selected merchants to pay for purchases, without the cards ever leaving the shopper’s hands.
FNB announced in October that all new cards issued will support “contactless” payments. This was unveiled along with the updated banking app.
These payments are the next move in the digital era, designed to make payments more efficient and safe.
FNB customers can now use the banking app from their smartphone handsets. Ideal for smaller, everyday purchases, FNB Pay also comes with a greater level of security.
Why use FNB Pay?
Payments are around 33% faster than normal PIN-based transactions. Contactless payments allow customers to use the FNB banking app to make payments by tapping their phones on a contactless-enabled point of sale terminal.
It offers a greater level of security, because when payments are made, the cards never leave the customer’s hands.
It’s simple to use and unlike other tap and go facilities, you don’t have to take a photograph of the card to use it.
It’s ideal for making smaller payments, of under R200, such as when you’re making your coffee run on busy mornings.
You can rest assured that your transaction is secure, as there is no chance of your card being skimmed by retail or restaurant personnel.
You don’t have to worry about carrying cash around. With FNB Pay you can pay securely at selected merchants and safe yourself the worry of carrying cash around.
