In an age where every new smart device released has the latest technology installed and fancier designs, it’s becoming increasingly challenging for cellphone companies to keep up. The big names in the industry (read: Samsung and Apple) are working much harder to produce unique handsets with the edgiest designs and fresh technological advancements.
One of the most anticipated releases of 2017 is the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Although there isn’t too much information available about the specifications of the handset, experts are making a number of predictions.
Likely to have a February debut, the Samsung Galaxy S8 “will feature slick design and an improved camera, as well as an enhanced artificial intelligence service”.
Rumoured features will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chip, a 4K display as well as an improved camera.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
“Samsung executives have delayed the development of the Galaxy S8 device by two weeks as engineers work to get to the bottom of the Note 7’s overheating problem, according to a member of the Galaxy S8 development team.”
One of the most exciting features expected from the S8 is the larger screen. Experts are predicting that Samsung allegedly wants to ditch the Home Button. Rumour has it that Samsung wants to do this “to fill all of the front of the Galaxy S8 with just a screen”. The device may have a Natural ID FS9100 optical fingerprint sensor underneath the glass and may have smaller bezels.
Predictions are also that the device may have a curved AMOLED display. Users may also get to enjoy a desktop experience on the 4K display.
With Microsoft’s Cortona and Apple’s pioneering Siri virtual assistant, Samsung won’t want to be outdone. The virtual assistant will connect to third party servers and apps.
There were rumours that Samsung might get rid of the headphone jack, but inside sources claim that this feature will remain, just like the Iris scanner used in the Note 7. The company may also bring back the microSD Slot.
Another new feature sure to impress is the Family Care app that will let parents sync their own phones with their children’s with a QR code. Samsung Pass, a password manager introduced alongside the Note 7, will make a comeback.
The USB Type C reversible charging port will offer fast-charging and quicker data transfers.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 looks set to be a game-changer in the highly competitive smart phone market.
