Chinese company Xiaomi is set to launch the lightweight Mi Notebook Air later in 2017. Xiaomi is a successful manufacturer in the smartphone market, which is regionally concentrated in China. The company’s business model consists of offering as good devices as possible at low prices to undercut the competition.
One of the slimmest and highest ultraportables on the market, with a discrete graphics card, the Mi Notebook Air is a 13.3 inch and 14.8mm-thin notebook with 8GB of RAM.
Technology website CNET says it’s “like a MacBook Air with gaming hardware inside”.
The computer also has an additional SATA slot available to boost storage by up to 256GB.

With Windows 10 Home Installed, the Mi Notebook Air is the first laptop by Xiaomi.
The device has a Type –C USB for charging, as well as two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port.
With up to 9.5 hours of battery life, the Mi Notebook Air has plenty of power for multi-tasking. The integrated processor and lower power-consumption are better and faster for playing games. The device can be quick-charged with the bundled USB Type-C charger from zero to 50% in 30 minutes.
With Bluetooth 4.1, the notebook supports fast transmission of data, pictures and files. The laptop also supports dual 4K video playback and has a built0in AKG Speaker/microphone.
GSM Arena called it “a MacBook competitor that won’t leave you wanting”.
The laptop features a 1080p display and a slim glass-covered bezel and is slimmer than its Apple counterpart. It’s powered by a sixth generation Intel Core i5 processor and features Mi Cloud Sync, letting users sync their phone contacts, messages, gallery, notes and other data. The laptops will be available in Silver or Gold colour variants.
At 4999 yuan (about R7800), the Mi Notebook Air is reasonably priced and will be launched in China on 2 August 2017.
