We’ve heard about the lavish lifestyles of WAGS (Wives and girlfriends) in Europe. In South Africa, the lives of footballers and their wives and girlfriends are often in the spotlight. New show gives viewers a glimpse into their lives.
Diski Divas is a South African TV show which follows the lives of South African footballers’ wives and girlfriends that premiered in April.
Viewers get an up-close view into the glitz and the glamour of big nights out and all the trimmings that come with being on the arm of some of the beautiful game’s biggest stars. They will also witness what it takes to live in this high-stakes world – the drama, the back-stabbing, the fear of losing it all in one quick move.
The show follows five Diski Divas including Felicia Modise, the former wife of Teko Modise, Gaositwe ‘Gigi’Pule, the wife of Boumemouth and Bafana Bafanaplayer, Tekelo Rantie, Nonhle Ndala, Andile Jali’s girlfriend, Wendy Parker, the wife of Bernard Parker and Kat Mohoadube, the ex-girlfriend of former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau.
Newlands, Durban-born Wendy Parker (31) met Bernard eight years ago when she was a manager at a sports store in Durban. The two have been married since 2011 after Bernard proposed during a trip to Holland. She is a mother to two boys. Wendy is in her second year of BA Law and criminology and believes wholeheartedly in social responsibility.
Nonhle Ndala was raised in Ratanda. She is fluent in Swedish (after living there for a year on an exchange programme). Like her boyfriend Andile Jali, whom she met in 2013. Nonhle is a dedicated sportsperson. She is fitness trainer for the current season of Bootcamp Mzansi- Celebrity Edition. She is passionate about fitness and believes in transforming people’s lives by adding positive value.
The claws have already come out with Nonhle rumoured to be the cause of much drama behind the scenes and on-screen. “Nonhle wants to be the centre of attention…all the time,” explains one insider.
